Laser Part Marking & Traceability

Every part Hunt & Hunt produces can carry its own identity. Our fiber laser marks part numbers and identification directly onto components as they are produced, and our new automated saw cuts material to length at the start of the run. Identification is built into production, not added at the end.

What traceability gives you

  • Permanent identification on the part itself, not a label or tag
  • Parts that can be traced back through production
  • Marking at production speed on high-volume runs
  • Marking on tubular and cylindrical parts

Traceability built into high-volume production

For many of our customers, “where did this part come from?” needs an exact answer. At Hunt & Hunt, material is cut on our automated saw and marked by fiber laser before it moves on through machining, so identification travels with the part from the start.

  • Permanent: A fiber laser mark is part of the surface. It doesn’t peel off or get lost the way a label or tag can.
  • Consistent at volume: Marking runs as a production step, so the thousandth part is marked the same way as the first.
  • Under one roof: Cutting, marking, laser processing and CNC machining all happen in our Houston facility, with no outside vendor between steps.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is laser part marking?

Laser part marking uses a focused fiber laser to put text, numbers or codes directly into a part’s surface. Unlike ink, labels or tags, the mark is permanent and adds nothing to the part.

What can you mark on a part?

Part numbers and identification marks are standard. If your program needs specific content or a particular format, send us your requirements with your drawing and we’ll confirm how we would mark it.

Do you only mark parts you make?

Marking is part of how we produce parts, so it is built into the work we machine and laser process for you. Tell us your identification and traceability requirements when you request a quote and we’ll build them into the job.
